With the increasing number of devotees attending the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, authorities have introduced new traffic and bathing guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe experience.
According to the latest directives, devotees arriving from different areas will have designated bathing zones:
- Pilgrims coming from the Parade Mela area towards the Sangam can take a dip at the Sangam and nearby ghats.
- Those arriving from the Jhunsi fair area will use the bathing ghats in Jhunsi.
- Devotees from the Arali side will have designated ghats in the Arali region.
Traffic restrictions
To manage the heavy footfall, a ‘No Vehicle’ zone has been implemented across the Mahakumbh area. Only vehicles authorised by Mela Police will be allowed, while all other visitors must park at designated spots. Exceptions include emergency medical services, food supply trucks, and logistical vehicles.
Authorities have urged devotees to strictly follow the rules to facilitate smooth transportation and ensure a safe pilgrimage experience.
To accommodate the surge of devotees, the Northern Railway has introduced special Vande Bharat trains on February 15, 16, and 17 between New Delhi and Varanasi (via Prayagraj).
As per official reports, over 3.324 million devotees took a dip in the Triveni Sangam today. With 501.1 million total participants so far, Mahakumbh 2025 has become the largest event in history with direct human participation.
