Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday departed for his foreign visit to France and the United States. Ahead of his departure, Modi expressed enthusiasm about meeting US President Donald Trump, calling him a “friend” and recalling their previous collaboration.

PM Modi will visit the US from February 12-13, marking his first bilateral meeting with Trump since the latter’s return to office in January. “Although this will be our first meeting following his historic electoral victory and inauguration in January, I have a very warm recollection of working together in his first term in building a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US,” PM Modi stated.

He emphasised that his visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the India-US partnership across various domains.

Before heading to Washington, Modi will visit France from February 10-12, where he will co-chair the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. During his stay, he will also pay tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in the World Wars at the Mazargues War Cemetery.
