The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee met on Thursday and adopted the panel’s report on the ‘cash-for-query’ allegation against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. While six members of the panel voted for it, four members were against it, committee chairman Vinod Sonkar said.
News agency PTI cited sources as saying that the Lok Sabha ethics panel has recommended the expulsion of the Trinamool MP. The report will now be sent to Lok Sabha Speaker.

On October 21, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had filed a complaint with the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal against Moitra, alleging that she accepted bribes from Darshan Hiranandani, CEO of Hiranandani Group, to raise questions in Parliament.
The BJP MP also accused Moitra of asking questions in the Lok Sabha to target the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the behest of businessman Hiranandani in exchange for gifts.

Moitra has admitted to sharing her login credentials with Hiranandani but rejected allegations that she received monetary benefits from the businessman.
On Wednesday, Dubey claimed that the Lokpal has ordered a CBI probe against Moitra in the cash-for-query allegations. Moitra has stuck to her demand that the CBI first needs to file an FIR against the Adani Group over allegations of corruption.
