Ahead of the fifth phase of polls, former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, ex-Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, and former Union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi cast their votes using the home voting facility, Delhi poll body said.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office of Delhi initiated the home voting facility on Thursday for elderly voters and persons with disabilities (PwDs), which will remain available until May 24.
Data released by the CEO office revealed that on Friday, the second day of the facility’s operation, a total of 1,409 voters cast their ballots from their homes across all seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi. Among these, the West Delhi constituency recorded the highest number of home votes, with 348 voters participating, including 299 elderly individuals.
With the conclusion of the second day, a cumulative total of 2,956 voters have exercised their right to vote from the comfort of their homes, as confirmed by the CEO office.
Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former Union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi utilized the home voting facility on May 17 in the New Delhi parliamentary constituency, the office confirmed.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari cast his vote on Thursday.
Former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani exercised his voting right on Saturday, PTI reports, citing sources.
During the inaugural day, 1,482 voters availed themselves of the home voting option. In total, 5,406 voters in Delhi, including elderly individuals and PwDs, have submitted Form 12D to benefit from the home voting facility in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Delhi will vote to chose its Lok Sabha representatives on May 25.
