Sharad Pawar, the master strategist is in the news again. As the Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 started trickling in, it was clear that the BJP is likely to fall short of the majority. Amid the heady buzz of a thriller verdict that proved almost all exit polls wrong, Pawar’s name started doing rounds. Several reports emerged that said that the NCP-SCP chief had spoken with Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu in a bid to stitch a post-poll alliance. However, addressing the media, Pawar refuted such claims.
“I have not spoken to Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar or anybody else,” Pawar said while addressing the concerns. The ECI trends show the BJP leading on 243 seats so far. This is a different situation from the 2019 polls when the saffron party won 303 seats on its own.
Meanwhile, talking about the disappointing results for the BJP-led NDA in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “I want to bow down before the country’s voters. Today, the election results are coming in. The picture is becoming clearer.”
At present, the NDA is leading on 290 seats while INDIA Bloc is ahead on 230 seats. It should be noted that a party or an alliance needs to secure a minimum of 272 seats out of 543 seats of the Lok Sabha.
