NDA partners on Wednesday unanimously elected Narendra Modi as the leader of the alliance, paving the way for him to stake claim to form a government at the Centre.
The NDa and INDIA blocs, a collective of the BJP and Opposition-led parties, are currently holding parallel meetings in Delhi. While the meeting of NDA leaders is taking place at Narendra Modi's 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence, the Opposition leaders have gathered at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. On agenda is government formation and a discussion on the future course of action for the NDA and INDIA blocs, respectively.
A meeting of the National Democratic Alliance is set to begin shortly in the presence of all top leaders of the bloc. Narendra Modi resigned as the Prime Minister earlier in the day. He is likely to be sworn in again on June 8. NDA parties are likely to submit their letter of support to the BJP. Modi will then meet the President and stake claim to form the government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive at the BJP headquarters in Delhi where he will meet party workers and address them. The visit comes after the NDA emerged victorious in EC trends and results while the BJP failed to win a majority on its own.
The INDIA bloc parties collectively gained 104 seats while the NDA lost 49 seats as compared to the 2019 tally. The NDA's tally currently stands at 294 seats while that of INDIA is at 231, as per the ECI trends and results.
Mallikarjun Kahrge said that the people voted against Narendra Modi as they feared that after capturing agencies and using them against the Opposition, the next assault would be on the Constitution. "Hence, people voted against the oppressive regime of Narendra Modi... Our fight isn't over. It will continue."
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the party accepts the people's mandate in the Lok Sabha elections and termed it a mandate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the people of the country did not give a majority to any single party this time and the Congress accepts it with all humility.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday arrived at the Congress headquarters in Delhi with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He is scheduled to address a press conference shortly.

Basavaraj Bommai of the Bharatiya Janata Party has own from the Haveri Lok Sabha seat by a margin of over 43,500 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.
