Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on Saturday took to X with a message asking BookMy Show, India‘s top event ticketing platform, seeking clarity on whether he would be allowed to list his shows on the site or not.

‘’Hello@bookmyshow can you please confirm if I have your platform to list my shows? If not, it’s fine. I understand…,” Kamra posted, indicating possible restrictions or a silent refusal from the platform.

Yuva Sena leader Rahool N Kanal warns BookMy Show

Recently, Yuva Sena leader Rahool N Kanal wrote a formal letter to BookMyShow, asking them to stop conducting ticket sales for Kamra’s upcoming performances. The later dated April 2 described Kamra as an ‘’individual with a documented history of habitual offensive behaviour,” and claimed his content might hurt public sentiment, especially in diverse cities like Mumbai.

Kanal mentioned in the letter that he was writing in his personal capacity as a concerned citizen. “It has come to my notice that BookMy Show has earlier promoted ticket sales for shows featuring Mr Kunal Kamra.” He wrote that Kamra’s satire led to a “broader criminal conspiracy” targeting main political leaders like the Prime Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers. He warned the platform that if it continues to list Kamra shows, it could be seen as endorsing “divisive rhetoric”.

Police scrutiny on Kamra

Meanwhile, Kamra is also under legal investigation. A complaint-seeking probe related to alleged foreign funding of his content has been received by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing. Moreover, the police have issued a third notice summoning him for questioning on April 5 over his satirical video ‘’Naya Bharat’’ and a controversial ‘’gaddar’’ remark allegedly aimed at Eknath Shinde.

At present, a total of three cases have been filed against Kamra at Khar Police Station amid rising political pressure. The Madras High Court has granted him interim anticipatory bail till April 7.
