The Oommen Chandy government in Kerala is in deep trouble after the latest revelations on the “solar scam”.
Saritha Nair, the accused in the case and a partner of Team Solar company, on Wednesday deposed before a judicial commission and stated that Chandy’s staff had sought a bribe of Rs 7 crore on his behalf.
“This was to give support to a solar mega power project proposed by Team Solar. Out of the Rs 7 crore sought, Rs 1.90 crore was handed over to his alleged middlemen, in two installments,” she told the single judge commission inquiring into the solar scam.
Chandy has promptly dismissed the allegations as baseless. “What is the credibility of a person who changes her testimony every now and then? How can she raise the amounts in crores, when even a cheque for Rs 2 lakh donated by her company to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund had bounced?” he asked.
