Gajwel Constituency Election Result 2023: Telangana’s former Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, popularly referred to as KCR, has won from the Gajwel seat in Telangana defeating his nearest rival and BJP leader Eatala Rajender by over 45,000 votes. KCR polled 1,11,684 votes and Rajender gathered 66,653 votes. Congress candidate Thookunta Narsa Reddy came third securing 32,568 votes. The results were declared after the completion of 25 rounds of counting. Counting for the Gajwel Assembly seat in Telangana began at 8 AM on Sunday. Elections to the 119 seats of Telangana took place on November 30.

The Gajwel Assembly constituency is a part of the Medak Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. This constituency is represented by KCR, who had won the Gajwel seat in the 2014 and 2018 Assembly polls. In 2014, he won with 44.06 per cent of the vote share with a 19,391 vote margin. In 2018, he polled 1.25 lakh votes or 60.45 per cent of the vote share, defeating his nearest rival by more than 58,000 votes.

As per ECI data at 3.01 PM, KCR is leading by 11,714 votes. BJP's Eatala Rajendar has polled 24,983 votes, while KCR has polled 36,697 votes. KCR is contesting from two constituencies - Gajwel and Kamareddy.

Incumbent Chief Minister and the founder of BRS, K Chandrashekar Rao, is contesting from two seats: his original seat, Gajwel, and Kamareddy. In the 2018 elections, KCR secured a victory in Gajwel by over 58,000 votes defeating Vanteru Pratap Reddy of Congress. Reddy was KCR’s rival in 2014 as well and lost by about 20,000 votes. He is among the three candidates who are fighting on three seats in the Telangana elections 2023. After Rajender was shunted out of the BRS (then TRS) in June 2021, Kaushik Reddy joined the BJP. In Huzurabad, the BRS has fielded Rajender’s arch rival Padi Kaushik Reddy.
