A two-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Karnataka was rescued after an 18-hour-long operation, which began at around 6:30 pm on Wednesday after the child fell into a 16-feet deep borewell in Lachayan village.
As per the police, the child tumbled into the borewell while playing near his residence, likely descending headfirst. The incident was brought to attention when a passerby heard the child’s cries and promptly alerted the family.

Using an excavator, authorities dug a pit approximately 21 feet deep parallel to the borewell to facilitate the rescue. Earlier, a camera was deployed into the borewell to assess the situation, revealing Satwik Satish Mujagond’s movements. Oxygen is being supplied through a pipeline to sustain the child’s breathing, reported NDTV.
Should the need arise, the child will be transferred to a higher-level medical facility, according to officials. Both the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force personnel were engaged in the rescue operation, police stated earlier.
A considerable number of villagers, including those from adjacent areas, have gathered at the scene.
