In a tragic incident, fifteen people have been killed in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh. It happened when a truck overturned near Bahpani village, as per the media reports.
The victims, comprising fourteen women and one man, were part of a group of twenty-five returning from tendu leaf picking when the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a ditch.
Eight others sustained injuries and were promptly transferred to a nearby hospital. The hilly terrain of the area is speculated to have contributed to the accident. Presently, a police team is on-site, diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, conveyed condolences and pledged full support to both the injured individuals and the bereaved families affected by the tragedy.
“The news of the tragic incident in which 15 people lost their lives due to a pickup vehicle overturning in Kawardha is deeply distressing. My condolences are with all the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident,” Sharma wrote on the social media platform X (Formerly: Twitter).
Deputy chief minister informed that the local administration is actively helping the victims of the incident.
“Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is actively engaged in providing all possible assistance to the affected individuals and their families,” he said.
