Hemant Soren, the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), secured a decisive victory in the Barhait constituency of Jharkhand, winning by a margin of 95,612 votes. The Barhait seat, located in Sahibganj district, is significant as it is reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

This constituency plays an important role in the state’s political landscape, and the election was held in two phases: November 13 and November 20.

Soren has previously won this seat in the 2014 and 2019 elections, and he was hoping to retain his position in this election. His victory in Barhait adds to his political success, and he remains a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s politics, especially among the tribal communities.

After his success in the assembly elections, Soren shared a heartfelt photo on social media, showing him spending quality time with his two sons. He captioned the image “Meri Shakti” (My Strength), expressing his deep connection with his family, who have been a major source of support for him throughout his political journey.

However, Soren’s victory did not come without competition. He faced contenders, including Gamliyel Hembrom of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was determined to challenge his hold on the constituency. Additionally, there were candidates from other smaller parties like the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Jharkhand Lok Kranti Morcha (JLKM) who also aimed to make their mark in this key election.

Despite the competition, Soren’s win signals his continued influence in the region, particularly among the tribal population, which forms a significant part of Barhait’s electorate.
