United States Vice President JD Vance has embarked on his first official visit to India. His four-day visit from April 21 to April 24 comes at a crucial time in US-India diplomatic relations. The visit will be marked with a series of high-level engagements and cultural exchanges.

Vance is expected to land in Delhi at around 9:30 am on Monday, as confirmed by the White House Press Pool. A formal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 pm at the latter’s official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg will be part of his schedule for the day. The two leaders are expected to discuss key issues, including bilateral trade, strategic partnerships and regional developments.

In light of the Vice President’s arrival, Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement across key city routes. The advisory details specific time slots during which traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place.

Traffic curbs and alternate routes to take

Traffic from 9 am to 11 am

Parking will be prohibited on major roads such as Sardar Patel Marg, Gurugram Road, Parade Road, Thimmaiya Marg and Air Force Road. Any vehicles found parked in these areas will be towed and moved to a designated traffic pit at Kalibari Mandir Marg. Commuters heading from 11 Murti to RML Hospital are advised to use Vande Mataram Marg via the Dhaula Kuan flyover, then continue through Shankar Road and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman Marg. Those traveling to and from the airport may use Rao Tula Ram Marg.

Traffic from 11 am to 2 pm

Central Delhi will see additional diversions. No parking or halting will be allowed on C-Hexagon, Janpath Road and nearby routes. Additional restrictions will apply to Sikandra Road, Firoz Shah Road, MNLP, Vikas Marg and Noida Link Road near Akshardham. Recommended detours include Raisina Road, Windsor Place, Ashoka Road and Zakir Hussain Marg via Mathura Road T-point.

Traffic from 6 pm to 9 pm

Evening restrictions will resume on Sardar Patel Marg, Kamal Ataturk Road and adjoining areas. Once again, commuters are advised to use alternate routes such as Vande Mataram Marg and Rao Tula Ram Marg to avoid congestion.

Throughout the day, Delhi Police has urged residents and commuters to opt for public transportation wherever possible and to allow extra travel time, especially if heading toward railway stations, ISBTs or airports.
