In an ongoing search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps reported on Tuesday that the body of a terrorist, along with a weapon, has been recovered.
The incident began when terrorists attempted an attack on an Army convoy in the Sunderbani Sector near Asan earlier in the day. The White Knight Corps, responsible for security in the region, confirmed that terrorists targeted an Army vehicle, but quick retaliation from Indian troops thwarted the attack without any injuries or damage.
The initial assault took place in the Battal area of Akhnoor, where gunfire was directed at an Army vehicle, including an ambulance. Villagers near the Assan temple in the Bhattal area of Khour alerted authorities after spotting three heavily armed suspects, suspected to have infiltrated from across the Pakistan border. Army and J&K police forces promptly cordoned off the area and launched an intensive search operation.
As the Army convoy moved through, gunshots were reportedly heard in the forward village, prompting officials to expand search operations along border areas. Currently, the area remains secured as Army troops, supported by local police, continue their efforts to locate the suspected militants.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the White Knight Corps praised the troops’ prompt response, which successfully averted harm to personnel and assets. “Swift retaliation by own troops ensured foiling of the attempt ensuring no injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing,” the White Knight Corps announced.
This ongoing operation underscores the Army’s commitment to securing the region and neutralizing potential threats posed by these suspected terrorists. The decisive actions of Army and police officials highlight the increased security vigilance along the border. Further updates are awaited as the operation continues, reflecting the Army’s resolve to maintain peace and stability amid rising border tensions.
