Residents of a border village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir are grappling with the aftermath of heavy shelling by Pakistan, which resulted in extensive damage to civilian properties, including homes and shops.

As a precautionary measure, all schools, colleges, and universities across J&K will remain closed on 9th and 10th May due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

According to a local resident, who spoke out about the attack, “After we closed our shop last night, shelling started. This morning I saw that my shop is completely damaged. This is like target killing of civilians.” The resident’s account reflects the intense and destructive nature of the shelling, which targeted areas close to the international border.

The shelling, which occurred overnight, left several houses and shops in ruins. Burnt debris and shattered structures can be seen across the village, with civilians now struggling to recover from the devastation.

Local authorities have expressed concern over the rising casualties and destruction caused by such cross-border shelling, which has left the residents in fear and despair.

This attack is another chapter in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, with civilian areas becoming increasingly vulnerable to military strikes across the LoC.
