Jammu and Kashmir Election PDP List of candidates: The Jammu and Kashmir election is set to see a three-way contest among the alliance of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNCP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with new parties and independent candidates. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has decided to stay out of the upcoming elections, saying there’s no point in contesting under the current Union Territory setup since it doesn’t allow her to achieve her party’s goals, even if she becomes Chief Minister. Instead, the party is placing its hopes on her daughter, Iltija Mufti, to retain the Srigufwara-Bijbehara Assembly seat, which has been a PDP stronghold since 1996.
The 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections will take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October1, with the results to be announced on October 8. The Election Commission has also pushed back the vote counting date from October 4 to October 8.
