Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025: Puri, Odisha is set to host the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025, beginning today, Friday, June 27, amid vibrant celebrations. Extensive preparations have been made, including heightened security and surveillance, while authorities have designated parking zones and integrated mobile apps to provide real-time updates to attendees and manage traffic smoothly.

Puri Rath Yatra has now begun with the three sibling deities – Lord Jagannath, Lord Balbhadra and Goddess Subhadra- being brought to their chariots, visuals appear.

Puri Collector and DM Siddharth Swain stated earlier today, “All kinds of arrangements have been made. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, including police deployment, along with NDRF, RAF, and NSG teams. The preparations have been made accordingly… Compared to last year, we are expecting around a 15 per cent increase in the number of devotees attending.”

Officials expect devotees in huge numbers, and public safety, crowd management and public convenience remain the primary objectives. “Anti-drone” teams will also be present and “except for the friendly drones, action will be taken against any other drone movement,” Puri SP Vineet Agarwal added.

Anticipating the annual crowd, Agarwal also shared that a “multi-agency mock drill was conducted near the Shri Jagannath Temple to evaluate the readiness and coordination of security forces.” He added that eleven agencies participated in the anti-terror intervention exercise.

The seaside pilgrim town of Puri has turned into a fortress with around 10,000 security personnel deployed for the annual Rath Yatra. Large crowds were seen gathering in Puri with devotees gathering to offer prayers. Wishes flowed in from PM Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Celebration of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra, is one of the most prominent Hindu festivals in Puri, Odisha. This festival takes place every year on the second day of the Shukla Paksha in the months of June or July. Three gigantic chariots of the Holy Trinity – Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Goddess Subhadra is created for the annual car festival in Puri at the Puri Jagannath Temple.
