After being ranked as the cleanest city in India for more than five times, Indore on Wednesday bagged yet another honour as it was judged as the ‘Best Smart City’ in India at the India Smart Cities Conclave 2023. Poll-bound Madhya Pradesh was ranked as the best state. Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri took to X (formerly Twitter) to post the results of the conclave. He said that 100 cities across the country were selected for the smart city competition. Out of these, Indore came on the top. Puri said that Indore was ‘testament’ to the progress made by Indian cities.

While Indore won the Best Smart City award in the country, Surat was awarded second place and Agra secured third spot in the country. The number one state in the county was won by Madhya Pradesh .

Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh tied up for the third spot while Tamil Nadu got the second position for the Best State Award

The Indian Smart Cities Conclave 2023 is being held in Indore on Wednesday. Both Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav and Member of Parliament from Indore Shankar Lalwani received congratulations from President Droupadi Murmu.

While President Murmu was present at the conclave, it was also attended by Governor Mangubhai Patel, Hardeep Singh Puri, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and many others.

Indore was also ranked first in sanitation, urban environment and water categories. CM Chouhan praised and gave the credit to the public for its participation in what Indore and MP have achieved.

Union Minister Hardeep Puri applauded Indore for being a model of urban development. He also mentioned “Chappan Dukan” as the pride of Indore.

President Murmu was presented with a Gond painting as a gift at the end of the event by CM Chouhan.
