After the April 22 attack in the Valley, which claimed the lives of 26 people, India launched Operation Sindoor against Pakistan to target nine terror hotbeds. Pakistan then launched drone and missile attacks on India, targeting Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab. India has successfully thwarted all attempts made by Pakistan and has been giving a befitting response to it.
In the wake of ongoing Operation Sindoor, the government has put all the cities on high alert. Authorities in respective states have been keeping a close check on important buildings and public places. Various states have also issued directives for the public.
‘Be our eyes and ears’
The Maharashtra government has issued “security advisories” to fishermen operating off the Palghar coast and asked them to be their “eyes and ears” to keep India’s maritime border safe.
Additionally, the state government is also trying to ensure that most fishing boats are equipped with transponders, enabling real-time tracking of their locations. “We have also urged fishermen to work as eyes and ears for naval security and alert authorities about any suspicious activity at sea,” an official said.
‘Don’t go out in markets, public places’
With the Barmer district in Rajasthan placed under a high red alert, District Collector Tina Dabi has issued an urgent directive urging all residents to stay indoors and restrict their movement for safety reasons.
“Everyone is directed to go to their house. There is a high red alert in the district. Don’t go out in markets or public places,” the Barmer DC said.
‘Stay calm and united’
The Chandigarh administration has urged people to stay calm and united, adding that “together we will overcome this”. It also urged the public to act responsibly and advised against hoarding essential supplies, including food.
Amid rising security concerns, school holidays have been announced across multiple states, including Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. The closures apply to both government and private institutions.
