Nepal’s civil unrest

The protest by GenZ of Nepal due to corruption, unemployment, and Nepo kid culture has allegedly led to the violent protest in Nepal. However, the root cause of the civil unrest has been attributed to the abrupt ban of 26 social media apps by their government  including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, X and YouTube.

The government of Nepal justified their step by by accusing the social media companies of fueling crime and fake news. Citizens of Nepal were also upset about the nepo privilege Nepali politicians’ children got. While economic and employment conditions of the locals have been hit due to poor governance, protesters alleged that kids of the elite lived comfortable lives because of their political affiliations.
