The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for several states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Vidarbha etc. The Met office has also forecasted rainfall activity in Odisha under the influence of a low-pressure area.
A look at weather conditions across few states:-
Odisha
The weather office has issued an Orange’ warning (be prepared) of heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) for the districts of Sundergarh and Jharsuguda, while ‘Yellow’ warning (be updated) was issued for Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. In the last 24 hours, the state witnessed an average rainfall of 26.6 mm.
Assam
The weather department has issued a weather warning for Assam and other parts of the North Eastern region with rainfall predicting heavy rainfall in some parts of the region till September 24. On Thursday, the moderate rainfall lashed Guwahati resulting in waterlogging of streets in some parts.
Tamil Nadu
The IMD has forecast light or moderate to moderately widespread, to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over interior Tamil Nadu till today. It also predicted that heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the Nilgiris, and Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai districts.
Delhi
The national capital will experience partly cloudy skies with a possibility of drizzle towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively. On Thursday, light rain occurred in parts of Delhi, bringing respite from the dry and hot weather in the city and adjoining areas. The maximum temperature settled at 37.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal.
