India Weather Today Live: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday requested help from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh govt to provide moew water supply to the National Capital amid the ongoing heatwave. Kejriwal emphasized that the extreme heat has made the need for water much greater and urged cooperation instead of conflict. On the plus side, the IMD has predicted a cloudy sky in the afternoon in Delhi, with a chance of a thunderstorm, dust storm, and light rain or drizzle, accompanied by gusty winds blowing at 25 to 35 km/h. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 44 degrees Celsius. Bihar, on the other hand, is in the grip of a relentless heatwave, that has claimed the lives of at least 19 people, reported ANI. Aurangabad has been hit hardest, with 12 deaths attributed to heatstroke.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions across ten states. The IMD has issued yellow alerts for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, and Odisha. The weather department said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in the coming days over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Isolated rain is expected over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

While the heatwave has affected most parts of the country, the northeastern states of Manipur and Assam have been getting heavy rainfall post Cyclone Remal.
People in Delhi are facing severe water shortage, despite the government's efforts including setting up a "war room" and promising "Har Ghar Jal" (water in every home). Areas like Sanjay Camp in Chanakyapuri and Geeta Colony are particularly affected, reported ANI. People can be seen forming long queues in scorching heat waiting for water tankers.
An extreme heatwave in Bhojpur's Arrah area has killed three people, reported ANI. The report suggests that a total of 12 individuals lost their lives due to the heatwave in Bihar.
The IMD has said that Delhi's maximum temperature is expected to be around 44 degrees Celsius today. The weather department registered 38 percent humidity at 8:30 am. The minimum temperature in the National Capital is expected to be around 29 degrees Celsius during the day.
The southwest monsoon arrived in Kerala on Thursday (May 30). The IMD in Bengaluru has predicted that the monsoon might move into some areas of south Karnataka by June 2.

IMD's forecast says that heatwave conditions will slowly subside over Northwest and Central India from today (May 31). “Hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over isolated pockets of Konkan & Goa during 30th May-01st June; Gangetic West Bengal on 30th & 31st May, 2024," IMD noted.
Delhi University has said that 25 water coolers will be installed around the campus to help with the current water shortage in Delhi during this extreme heatwave. This decision was made during a meeting between Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) representatives and university officials.
The IMD has issued yellow alerts for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
With Delhi facing an excruciating heatwave, RML Hospital has made special arrangements to treat heatstroke patients. Dr. Seema Balkrishna Wasnik, Head of Emergency Medicine at RML, told ANI that they have set up inflatable tubs filled with ice for heatstroke patients arriving at the hospital to provide urgent and critical care.
In Bihar, 19 people have died because of the heatwave, a report by ANI stated. More than 20 people are in different hospitals in the district, officials from the Aurangabad Health Department said.
