The national capital on Wednesday witnessed a change in weather as parts of the city received light rainfall late in the afternoon triggered by a fresh western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in the latest weather bulletin.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorm and gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph are expected due to the western disturbance over and adjacent areas of Delhi including isolated pockets of Tughlakabad, Ayanagar, and Deramandi for the next two hours, an IMD official said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast no rainfall for the next six days, however, the sky will be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature in Delhi will remain the same in the next two days, with no major differences, the weather department said.
On Wednesday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal. The humidity level was recorded as 80 percent, the IMD’s weather bulletin showed.
Western disturbance to bring snow and rainfall in himalayan region
A western disturbance will bring light to moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied with thunderstorm & hail over the western Himalayan region today, as per IMD.
Under its influence, fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall is predicted in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on March 14 (today).
Meanwhile, intermittent rains and thunderstorms lashed Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, and the surrounding areas on Wednesday, leading to the closure of highways in the state.
As many as 280 roads, including 255 roads in Lahaul and Spiti, ten in Kinnaur, six in Kullu, five in Chamba, two in Mandi, and one each in Shimla and Kangra districts, and five national highways are closed while 280 power transformers and three water supplies schemes are disrupted
The local meteorological office has predicted rain, snow, and thunderstorms at isolated places in mid and higher hills of Himachal today.

Isolated to scattered light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely over Sub-Himalayan & Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh for the next few days.
In northeast India, spells of rainfall and snowfall are likely over Arunachal Pradesh till March 19.
Isolated light rainfall is predicted over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura till March 17.
