A day after Haryana election results were announced, two Independent MLAs, Devender Kadyan and Rajesh Joon, joined the Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in a major boost for the saffron camp.

They joined the party at Union Minister and Haryana in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan’s house in the presence of state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli.

Kadyan won from Ganaur as an Independent while Rajesh Joon defeated his BJP rival to secure victory in Bahadurgarh.

Joon had defeated BJP’s Dinesh Kaushik by a margin of 41,999 votes. Devender Kadyan defeated Congress’s Kuldip Sharma by 35,209 votes from Ganaur.

The BJP scripted a stunning turnaround in the Haryana Assembly polls, winning 48 seats, its best-ever haul since the state came into existence in 1966. The Congress, which was leading in the initial rounds, ended with 37 seats.

The INLD won two seats while the JJP and AAP failed to open their accounts.
