Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hoist the national flag and deliver the Independence Day speech from the Red Fort on Thursday, August 15. In anticipation, Delhi Police have heightened their security presence around the Red Fort, with personnel stationed at strategic points and bomb disposal units conducting thorough inspections of the surrounding area with the aid of sniffer dogs.

Advanced Surveillance Technology in Delhi

Delhi Police are using advanced technology to level up the security in the city. Numerous CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the area, and special cameras are being used in conjunction with Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) to integrate with facial recognition systems. This technology will help monitor and verify the identities of individuals entering the Red Fort for the Independence Day event.

Increased Vigilance Along the Yamuna River

The Delhi Police, supported by Border Security Force personnel, are actively patrolling the Yamuna River. Security operations are being closely monitored using binoculars to ensure vigilance in this critical area.

Tightened Security in Punjab

Security has been intensified across Punjab as well. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal emphasized the importance of heightened alertness during such significant events. “The Bathinda Police are implementing daily security measures and have conducted flag marches in sensitive areas,” Kondal reported.

Measures in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, security has been escalated in Samba district ahead of the 78th Independence Day. Security forces have established a special checkpoint on the Batote-Doda highway, and a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police is underway in the Akar Forest area near Patnitop. The operation has successfully established contact with terrorist groups, and efforts are ongoing to address the threat.

Heightened Security in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh

In Mumbai, police have increased checks on vehicles and are maintaining a high level of vigilance throughout the city. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh police have deployed additional personnel to sensitive areas. ADCP Noida Manish Mishra said the Police have been deployed to all key locations, and there is a rigorous inspection of suspicious vehicles.
