Ahead of India’s 78th Independence Day, Delhi Police has ramped up security across the city, deploying over 10,000 personnel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag at the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive year on Thursday.
To enhance security, 700 AI-based facial recognition CCTV cameras have been installed in central and New Delhi. These advanced cameras, equipped with high-resolution pan-tilt-zoom features, can identify individuals from a distance, ensuring a secure environment.
A comprehensive traffic advisory has been issued, informing the public of route closures and diversions around the Red Fort. Additionally, the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders and drones, has been banned across the city since August 1.
Security has been further tightened by sealing all borders of the national capital to restrict the entry of commercial and heavy vehicles. Commandos, quick reaction teams, anti-sabotage units, and SWAT teams have been stationed at key locations, including IGI Airport and metro stations.
Over 3,000 traffic police personnel will manage traffic at major junctions and roads connecting the borders to the Red Fort. As Delhi prepares for the Independence Day celebrations, these measures aim to ensure the safety of all attendees.
