The cold winter spell refuses to give the people a breather from the fog as the minimum temperature in the national capital hovers around 7°C. The city has been witnessing a pattern of flight delays throughout these chilly days and the weather is predicted to be the same over the coming few days.
Dense Fog in Punjab, Delhi, Bihar
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense to very dense fog conditions were likely to be seen during the morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi today. Other regions in India in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha were also braving dense fog conditions today.
Fresh Western Disturbance
The agency predicted fresh trouble for Northwest India. It said that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India starting today. Under its spell, several regions will be receiving heavy rainfall and hailstorms, the IMD said.
Between February 3-5, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall has been predicted for regions in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan are also to see light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall today, tomorrow, while Uttar Pradesh could see the same tomorrow and day after.
The IMD added that isolated hailstorm is also likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh tomorrow and over West Rajasthan today and tomorrow.
It further said that light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh between February 3-6 and isolated to scattered rainfall can be seen over West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur & Tripura today.
Minimum temperature
There is no anticipated significant alteration in minimum temperatures expected over northwest and central India in the next few days. However, a decrease of 2-4°C in minimum temperatures is likely across various areas in East India over the next two days, with no noteworthy changes thereafter.
