Rajinikanth should not cancel his trip to Sri Lanka on humanitarian grounds despite protests from certain groups to do so. The superstar Rajinikanth whose reel life is full of magical thrills and spills and real life image is devoid of controversy (mostly), should not bend before fringe elements by canceling his trip to Sri Lanka.

He is going for a good cause, a philanthropic one. Essentially for a housing project. On his trip, he is supposed to provide as many as 150 houses in Jaffna for rehabilitation of the Tamil people who were displaced by the war. He is also supposed to address a gathering there that is likely to be very large considering his stature. The homes have been built by the Lyca Group which has been very active in terms of caring for the affected people. Rajinikanth is also expected to visit Vavuniya. However, the fringe groups are stating that Lyca Productions is based in Lanka, and protesting against Rajinikanth for the same. Reports have also suggested that Thalaivar’s much-anticipated 2.0, which is bankrolled by Lyca for a whopping Rs 400 crore, may face opposition from the aforementioned groups.

As part of his visit, Rajinikanth is also expected to plant tree saplings. So it is all for good. Houses and planting tree saplings. So carry on with your visit. It s common knowledge that over the years, Eelam is one issue that has spawned several heated debates across Tamil Nadu. But that is a political issue and should not stop the actor from going on a personal visit. No doubt, he is an icon, but then we must grant him that much freedom.

Rajni’s cause is good and even though there is an atmosphere of hostility and cold war between the Tamils and Sri Lankans, Rajnikanth should continue with his plans as people who are protesting only have vested political interests.
