Addressing the INDIA bloc’s ‘Loktantra Bachao’ rally in Delhi, Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, delivered a message from her husband, who is currently in Enforcement Directorate custody. Asserting that tyranny will not prevail, she expressed confidence that her husband, a ‘sher’ (lion), cannot be detained for long.
In her maiden speech at a political rally, Sunita also asked people whether Kejriwal should resign as Chief Minister.
“The BJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Kejriwal. Should he resign? Is his arrest justified? He is a ‘sher’ (lion). They won’t be able to keep him behind bars for long,” she said.
“This tyranny will not work. My husband is getting lots of blessings,” she said.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case associated with the now-defunct Delhi excise policy. He remains in ED custody until April 1.
Thanking the people for their blessings, she conveyed her husband’s message, outlining six guarantees on behalf of the INDIA bloc, including uninterrupted power supply, free electricity for the poor, improved government schools, accessible healthcare through Mohalla Clinics and multispeciality hospitals, fair minimum support price for farmers, and the promise of full statehood for Delhi.
Appealing to the electorate, Sunita Kejriwal highlighted the injustices faced by the people of Delhi over the years and emphasized the need to empower the national capital with full statehood.
Amidst a display of opposition unity, prominent leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Tejashwi Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah, and Champai Soren came together at the ‘Loktantra Bachao’ rally, underscoring the collective effort to safeguard democracy. Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren also spoke at the INDIA bloc rally.
