High tide in Mumbai today: Mumbai has been receiving non-stop rainfall, which has led to heavy waterlogging and flooded streets. Apart from the flights being rerouted, there’s a delay in train services as well. Keeping the seriousness of the situation in consideration, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for educational institutes and government offices, and has advised private employees to work from home.

High tide in Mumbai

After witnessing the first high tide at 9:17 AM today, the second high tide in Mumbai today is expected around 8:36 PM, going as high as 10.37 ft. However, it will be lower than the high tide experienced in Mumbai earlier today which crossed 12 feet. In the upcoming week, the Mumbai tide chart has several peaks in the first half of the day till Saturday, August 23. The highest trough is set to reach 4.5m, which is nearly 15 feet.

For tomorrow, high tide in Mumbai is set to hit at 10:19 AM first, predicted to go as high as 13 feet. It will recede in the day, to come back at 9:55 PM on August 20. Visuals from the Marine Drive appeared early today with waves crashing against the shore and even reaching the road, as vehicles drove past. Reduced visibility, incessant waterlogging, heavy downpour were noted in areas like Thane, Dombivli, Worli, Dadar, Chembur, Santacruz, and BKC among other busy areas.

Dramatic visuals of a car nearly submerged surfaced on the internet with two people stuck inside. Stuck at a steep vertical angle, the car was close to capsizing as locals tried to rescue the driver and passenger.

After the lifeline of the city came to a halt, visuals from Bandra and Dadar stations surfaced with trains running and water submerging the tracks completely. Further, houses were inundated, and villages were cut off completely in Thane as incessant rains lashed out in the city.

Mumbai weather report: Monsoon uproars mayhem

Visuals from across the city show residents facing waist-deep water struggling to carry on their daily tasks. In Jalna, the Kasura River overflowed, which caused water to surge over Srishti Bridge on the Shegaon-Pandharpur Dindi Highway.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red alerts in Pune, Satara, and Palghar in Maharashtra. An orange warning was sounded in Nashik, Thane, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Kolhapur. Central Railways suspended services on the Harbour line due to submerged tracks, as per a PTI report. Further, Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo issued a travel advisory for Mumbai as waterlogged roads leading to the airport are clogged.

The BMC also declared the rainfall numbers in Mumbai and Chincholi Fire Station received the highest downpour with 361mm, followed by Kandivali (337 mm), Dindoshi (305 mm), and Dadar (300 mm). Other regions like Chembur (297 mm), Vikhroli (293 mm), Wadal (282 mm), and Sion (252 mm) reported high rainfall too.
