Heavy rainfall across Rajasthan has led to significant disruptions in train services, with several trains cancelled or diverted due to damage on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer railway track. North Western Railway officials reported that five trains were cancelled, two were partially cancelled, and one train had its route changed due to the track damage.
In the past 24 hours, ending at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Jaipur Meteorological Centre recorded widespread rainfall with thunderstorms across the state. Heavy rains were observed in districts such as Jaipur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Banswara, Kota, Bundi, Baran, Tonk, Jodhpur, Jalore, and Pali. Udaipur, Bhilwara, and Barmer experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The highest recorded rainfall was 167 mm in Rishabhdev (Udaipur), followed by 147 mm in Gudha Malani (Barmer) and 119 mm in Kotdi (Bhilwara). Other notable figures include 93 mm in Nainwa (Bundi), 86 mm in Banswara, and 84 mm each in Nokhda (Barmer) and Bassi (Jaipur).
The meteorological department reported that a low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh has weakened into a cyclonic circulation located over southwestern Rajasthan. A new low-pressure area is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. Consequently, heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated in Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer divisions, with moderate to heavy rains expected in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner divisions over the coming days.
