If you are flying out of Delhi today and have yet to reach the airport, then you should read the advisory before stepping out of your home. Delhi Airport, at thirteen past eight, has issued a travel advisory for passengers amid the yellow alert in Delhi-NCR. The airport, on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, added that the ground teams are ensuring a “hassle-free” journey for passengers.

Delhi Airport’s advisory

“As per the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions,” the airport said in a statement.

It added, “Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free.”

The airport further advised passengers to travel by Delhi Metro to reach the airport on time.

“Passengers are advised to consider alternative modes of transport, including the Delhi Metro, to reach the airport and avoid potential delays. For the latest flight information, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines,” the advisory further reads.

IMD issues yellow alert for Delhi-NCR

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for some places in Delhi-NCR.

For the northwest, southwest and southeast, IMD has issued a yellow alert, which means that these areas will experience light rain, thunderstorms and lightning.

When it comes to NCR, the yellow alert has been issued for Panipat, Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Hisar, Karnal, Noida, Faridabad, Palwal, Hodal, Hathin, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Mathura.

As monsoon arrived eight days ahead of schedule this year, Delhi-NCR has been experiencing heavy rain from Wednesday through the weekend. This has led to waterlogging and traffic congestion across several parts of the city, bringing Delhi-NCR to a standstill. The heavy rain, which began midweek – on Wednesday evening – has brought much-needed respite from heat and humidity.
