Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the Congress party spends most of its time infighting and has failed as an opposition over the past decade. Speaking during an interaction with Haryana BJP workers through the NaMo app, Modi asserted that the people of Haryana are ready to give the BJP another chance to serve the state.

While discussing strategies for the upcoming state polls, Modi claimed that every child in Haryana is aware of Congress’s internal strife.

Attacking the Congress, he said, “The entire basis of those fighting against us in the polls is lies. They repeatedly tell lies, their talks have no head and tail and they vitiate the atmosphere.” These days, the Congress’ loudspeakers which earlier were making big claims have fallen weak, PM Modi said.

He added, “During the past 10 years, the Congress has failed as an opposition. The party has remained distant from the people’s issues, and such a party can never win their trust.”

Modi also pointed to the Congress’s governance in Himachal Pradesh, stating that promises made by the party were not fulfilled, leading to a halt in development and salary payments. He highlighted past atrocities against Dalits during Congress rule in Haryana and encouraged BJP workers to expose such incidents.

Reiterating the BJP’s initiatives for farmers, Modi noted that during Congress’s tenure, farmers received only Rs 2 in compensation for crop damage. He asserted that the Congress leadership prioritises family over public service.

Reflecting on his past work in Haryana as a BJP worker, Modi expressed confidence that voters are pleased with a corruption-free government. “Youths have secured jobs without ‘parchi and kharchi’ (jobs for cash),” he said, asserting that the people’s support is with the BJP and victory is assured.

Modi encouraged BJP workers to focus on their booths, stating, “Polling booth is our ‘mazboot chowki’.” He stressed the importance of ensuring the BJP flag remains prominent in every polling station, saying that winning polling booths is key to winning elections.

Haryana elections are on October 5, with results set to be announced on October 8. The BJP is aiming for a third consecutive term in power in the state.
