Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress, accusing Rahul Gandhi of failing to deliver on election guarantees in states where the party is in power, including Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka.
During an election rally in Gurugram’s Badshahpur on Sunday, Shah said that while Congress makes lofty promises during elections, they have not been able to fulfill these commitments. “Rahul Gandhi’s guarantees have come a cropper,” he asserted, contrasting this with the BJP’s approach of not making unfulfillable promises.
Emphasising the BJP’s track record, Shah stated, “Rahul Baba and company cannot undertake development.” He further highlighted that the double-engine government would ensure Haryana’s growth, vowing to secure the country’s borders and protect reservation rights while vowing to prevent the return of Article 370.
Referring to the Waqf Bill, Shah told the rally, “You have a problem with the current legislation on Waqf Board… we will amend it in the Winter Session of Parliament.” Several opposition leaders alleged last month that the BJP-led NDA government’s Waqf Amendment Bill aims to create a divide in society and vowed to oppose it strongly.
Shah lashed out at Rahul Gandhi over the Agnipath scheme, calling him a “lying machine” and claiming that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has stated that Agniveers would not secure jobs. He emphasised that the Agniveer scheme was introduced to create a youthful profile for the armed forces.
In response to Congress’s criticism, Shah urged the audience, “Don’t hesitate to send your children to the Army. Haryana and the Centre will provide pensionable jobs to every single Agniveer,” adding, “After five years, you will not find even one Agniveer who will be without a pensionable job.”
With Navratri starting on October 3, Shah remarked, “On October 5, while casting your vote, you must respond to Rahul Baba and his party Congress regarding who insults Shakti (the goddess).” He accused Congress of being “blinded by appeasement,” specifically targeting the Bhupinder Singh Hooda administration by stating that previous Congress governments focused development efforts on one caste and one district.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5, with results expected to be announced on October 8.
