Haryana Election 2024: Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday emerged victorious in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, securing a decisive win from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency.

Despite the Indian National Congress (INC) trailing behind the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) overall, Hooda triumphed by a significant margin of 71,465 votes, defeating BJP candidate Manju, as confirmed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“I have news that counting has stopped at several places. We are getting the majority…This is a game, the ball is sometimes here, sometimes there but we will do the final goal,” said Hooda as Congress moved towards an upset in Haryana.

In another big win for Congress, Aditya Surjewala clinched the Kaithal assembly seat with a margin of 8,124 votes, defeating BJP’s Leela Ram. Celebrations broke out at Surjewala’s residence as he maintained a lead throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his gratitude to the people of the state as the BJP inched closer to securing a third consecutive term. “I want to thank the 2.80 crore people of Haryana for putting a stamp on the works of BJP for the third time. All this is only because of PM Modi. Under his leadership, we are moving forward. He spoke to me and gave his blessings.”

“I had faith that the poor, farmers and the youth of Haryana would bless me,” he said.

Earlier today, Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat emerged victorious in Julana Assembly Constituency in Haryana as she defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Yogesh Kumar as per the Election Commission of India. The former wrestler defeated her rival with a margin of 5761 votes.

In another key victory for the Congress, Vinesh Phogat, a former wrestler, won the Julana Assembly constituency. Phogat defeated BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by 5,761 votes, adding to Congress’s tally in the state.
