A post-Eid prayer dispute escalated into a violent clash between two groups from the same community in Tirwada village, Nuh, as reported by PTI. The clash resulted in injuries to more than five people on Monday morning. The incident, which occurred around 9 a.m., stemmed from a longstanding rivalry between groups led by Rashid and Sajid, according to local police.
Clash after Eid prayers
The violence erupted as members of one group were returning home from Eid prayers at the local Idgah, leading to an altercation with members of the opposing group. The confrontation quickly turned physical, with both sides resorting to sticks and other blunt objects.
As per PTI, responding to reports of the disturbance, police teams from multiple stations were dispatched to Tirwada village to quell the unrest and restore order. A police presence has been established in the village to maintain peace and prevent further escalation.
Old rivalry between groups
“In the old rivalry, there was a clash between the groups of Rashid and Sajid in village Tirwada in which Meeru and Hafiz from Rashid’s party and Khurshid, Ashmin and Noor Mohammad from Sajid’s party got injured and are being treated in hospital,” stated Krishan Kumar, spokesperson for Nuh police to PTI. “Some other people from both groups also suffered minor injuries.”
The spokesperson confirmed that previous cases had been registered against both Rashid and Sajid’s groups, highlighting the ongoing nature of the dispute.
“Our police teams are on the spot and the situation is under control. A probe is underway and an FIR will be registered soon,” Kumar added.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the exact sequence of events and identify those responsible. The police have assured residents that they are taking all necessary measures to maintain peace and prevent any recurrence of violence.
