Given the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, a party meeting was conducted in New Delhi, headed by BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda. The agenda of the meeting was to finalizing the list of the candidates for the state elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders attended the meeting. However, Chief Minister Naib Saini was absent from the high-level meeting.

BJP reviews candidates shortlisting

As per reports, the meeting went on for three and a half hours at the BJP HeadQuarters Extension office, where the party representatives discussed the potential contenders for the upcoming elections.  The BJP is expected to release the first list of candidates soon but it might delay because of the changing political dynamics in Haryana and may result in revisions of the list.

After the conclusion of the launch program of BJP’s National Membership Campaign, the meeting was also marked with the presence of key party leaders like Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Former Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana State President Mohan Lal Badauli and other leaders.

Haryana Assembly Elections timeline

The Haryana Assembly Elections are scheduled to be held on 5 October and the deadline to file the nominations is on 1 September. In an earlier meeting that took place on 29 August, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended, more than 50 candidates’ names were finalized. However, the continuous ongoing shift in the state’s political situation has demanded a revaluation of some constituencies.
