The ruling BJP has surpassed the halfway point in the Haryana assembly elections, leading in 48 seats, while the Congress is ahead in 33, based on the latest trends from the Election Commission website. 

The two parties have been locked in a close contest since vote counting began at 8 a.m. Initially, early trends on TV indicated the Congress was in the lead, but the ruling party made significant gains as counting progressed. As of 10:20 a.m., the Election Commission reported the BJP leading in 48 seats and Congress in 34. The majority threshold for the 90-member assembly is 46 seats.
