Three people, including two women and a child, were killed in a blast at an “illegal” firecracker unit in a village in Haryana’s Sonipat district on Saturday. Nine people were injured in the incident, according to police, reports PTI.

The incident took place at Ridhau village, when workers and some of the their family members were present at the site.

Police said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

A police officer told PTI that nine people were injured and were taken to the PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak.

The cop said the chemical used in preparing firecrackers in the “illegal unit” appeared to have caught fire, leading to the blast.
