In a turn of events in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Govind Raghuvanshi, brother of prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, met the victim’s mother Uma Raghuvanshi in Indore and expressed deep remorse for his sister’s actions, demanding that she be hanged for the crime.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Raja’s mother Uma said, “Govind told me that Sonam should be hanged. He is pained for Raja, not Sonam. I asked him if he had met her — he said he did, but only for three minutes. I asked him why he didn’t hit her; he said the police and media were present, so he didn’t get a chance.”

Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, also confirmed the emotional exchange. “Govind was in touch with me earlier. He said he would come to our home and wanted to admit that his sister made a grave mistake. He told us Sonam deserves the death penalty,” he said.

Govind himself told reporters that he is “100 per cent sure” his sister committed the murder. “All the accused are connected to Raj Singh Kushwaha. We have severed all ties with Sonam. I apologise to Raja’s family,” he added.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with four others — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — is accused of murdering her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s body was recovered on June 2 from a gorge in Sohra near Cherrapunji, while Sonam was later found near a roadside dhaba in Uttar Pradesh.

The couple, both residents of Indore, had recently married and were reported missing while on their honeymoon. The case has since gripped the nation, with chilling revelations continuing to emerge.
