Omar Abdullah Jammu and Kashmir Election Results 2024: As counting progresses, trends from the Election Commission of India indicate that the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Congress alliance has crossed the halfway mark, leading in 47 seats, according to updates released at 10:15 AM. The data shows that between three to five rounds of counting have been completed in most of the region’s 90 constituencies. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently leading in 28 seats. The results will determine the electoral futures of several prominent leaders, including Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, Raman Bhalla, Basharat Bukhari, Omar Abdullah, Ravinder Raina, and Yousuf Tarigami, among others.
Budgam, a National Conference (NC) stronghold since 1977, is witnessing a three-way contest between NC’s Omar Abdullah, PDP’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, and Awami National Conference’s Aga Syed Ahmad Moosvi. The constituency saw a voter turnout of 62.98% during the September 25 polls. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, vying for the Budgam seat, enjoys strong backing from Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a respected Shia leader and three-time MLA from the area.
In Ganderbal, a crucial seat in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, 56.97% of eligible voters cast their votes. Ganderbal, part of the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, holds personal significance for Omar Abdullah, who first contested from there in 2002 but lost to PDP’s Qazi Mohammad Afzal.

After winning the Budgam seat, NC's Omar Abdullah has also registered victory on the Ganderbal seat. Abdullah defeated PDP candidate by a margin of more than 10,500 votes.

National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah Tuesday asserted there should be no "fiddling" with the mandate of people in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Centre and the Raj Bhavan must not indulge in any "machinations".
"Transparency should be there. Whatever happens should be done in a transparent manner. There should be no fiddling with the peoples' mandate. If the mandate of the people is against the BJP, then the BJP should not indulge in any 'jugaad' (machinations) or something else," Abdullah told reporters.

When asked about any possible alliance with PDP, JKNC Vice President and party's candidate from Ganderbal & Budgam, Omar Abdullah says, " Neither have we asked for any support from them nor have we received any support...let the result come. Not sure why we are so restless, let the result come, right now nobody has the number...right now we are not in need (of their support)...once the result is out, we will analyse..."

Omar Abdullah is currently leading by a margin of over 600 votes in Ganderbal, as per the trends by ECI. The former CM is also leading from Budgam constituency by a margin of over 1400 votes.

According to the initial trends by India Today, NC Vice-President Omar Abdullah is leading from the Ganderbal seat. NC+ is leading on 19 seats and BJP is leading on 16 seats.
Counting of votes have begin for all 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. Initial trends to be out soon.
- In the 2014 assembly polls, Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference emerged as the leading candidate with 19,478 votes, securing 36.38% of the total vote share
- Close behind was Qazi Mohammad Afzal from the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party, who received 18,881 votes, accounting for 35.27%
- Independent candidate Sheikh Ghulam Ahmad garnered 6,009 votes, representing 11.22%
- Mohammad Yousuf Bhat from the Indian National Congress (INC) earned 3,190 votes, which is 5.96%
- Another Independent candidate, Gh Rasool Mir, managed to secure 1,236 votes, making up 2.31% of the vote share
- In the 2014 assembly elections, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference emerged as the leading candidate, securing 30,090 votes, which accounted for 43.76% of the total votes cast.
- Close behind was Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat, also known as Muntazir, from People's Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 27,303 votes, translating to a 39.71% share.
- Fayaz Ahmad Dar of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (JKPDF) came in third with 6,387 votes, representing 9.29% of the vote share.
- Mohammad Kamal Malik from the Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference (JPC) received 2,342 votes, which made up 3.41%
- Mir Fayaz Rahat from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earned 880 votes, securing 1.28% of the total votes.

The Budgam Assembly seat in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir elections has eight candidates vying for victory. Omar Abdullah, representing the National Conference, faces strong competition from Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Aga Syed Ahmad Moosvi of the Awami National Conference. Gazanfar Maqbool Shah from the Samajwadi Party and Nisar Ahmad Pal of the Peoples Democratic Front (Secular) are also in the fray.
