A massive fire broke out on Saturday at the multi-storey Brahmaputra Apartments on BD Marg in Delhi, a residential complex housing several Rajya Sabha MPs. The building, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020, is located barely 200 meters from the Parliament complex.

The blaze reportedly started on one of the upper floors, causing panic among residents. Multiple fire engines were deployed to the spot to control the flames, though the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

‘No fire brigade since 30 mins,’ says Congress’ Saket Gokhale

Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale raised an alarm on social media, alleging a delay in the arrival of fire tenders.

“HUGE FIRE at Brahmaputra Apartments at BD Marg in Delhi. All residents are Rajya Sabha MPs. The building is 200 meters from Parliament. NO FIRE BRIGADE SINCE 30 mins,” Gokhale wrote on X (formerly Twitter), criticising the Delhi government for the response delay.
