Operation Sindoor: Multiple social media users have been claiming that ‘India’s Jammu Air Force base’ was severely impacted after Pakistan carried out several drone attacks. They have been using a grim picture showing black smoke billowing from the airport to substantiate their claim. Some pro-Pakistan handles have also been sharing this video with the same claim, using the hashtag “breaking”. However, when PIB fact-checked it, it found the claim to be FALSE.
“Explosion at Jammu Air Force Base?” PIB wrote in a social media post. It added, “An old image is being circulated with false claims of multiple explosions at the Jammu Air Force Base in India.”
The image is, in fact, a few years old and not from India. “This image is from the Kabul Airport blast in August 2021,” it added.

“Don’t fall for misinformation. Always verify before sharing!” it urged users.
Earlier, several pro-Pakistan handles shared an old video and falsely attributed it to Pakistan’s supposed retaliation against India’s Operation Sindoor. In reality, the Pakistani Army has NOT carried out any attack on the Srinagar Airbase.
In fact, the videos that they had shared were from the 2024 sectarian clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

“In the coming days, your social media will be flooded with Pakistan-sponsored propaganda. It’s crucial to scrutinise every piece of information carefully,” PIB Fact Check said in a statement.
It added, “A coordinated misinformation campaign is being waged by Pakistani social media. Their objective is to sow mistrust, confusion and panic in India. Do not fall prey to deliberately spread misinformation.”
“Stay alert, stay vigilant,” it further said.
