Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: With just a few months to go before the Bihar Assembly Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Motihari and participated in a large-scale Griha Pravesh ceremony under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). He handed over house keys to 12,000 rural beneficiaries, reaffirming the government’s commitment to affordable housing.

In addition, the Prime Minister released over Rs 160 crore, benefiting more than 40,000 families to support the construction of their homes under the scheme.

In his address, PM Modi proudly stated, “Under PM Awas Yojna, we gave more houses to Bihar than the entire population of Norway, New Zealand and Singapore.” He lauded the joint efforts of the Centre and Bihar government in accelerating development in the state.

Projects worth Rs 7,200 crore inaugurated

Alongside the housing initiative, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore. These include key infrastructure, health, and connectivity ventures aimed at improving quality of life and boosting regional growth.

Four Amrit Bharat trains flagged off

As part of enhanced rail connectivity, the Prime Minister flagged off four Amrit Bharat Express trains. The new trains will run between:

Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) and New Delhi

Bapudham Motihari and Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal)

Darbhanga and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)

Malda Town and Lucknow (via Bhagalpur)

At a public rally in Motihari, PM Modi launched a strong critique of past governments. He alleged that the Congress-RJD alliance had deliberately neglected Bihar, allocating only Rs 2 lakh crore during 10 years of UPA rule. “They were taking revenge on Nitish Ji’s government and on the people of Bihar,” he said.

He contrasted that with his administration’s focus on inclusion and rapid development, affirming, “I ended that old politics of taking revenge on Bihar.”

“We are working for the welfare of the backward classes and it shows in our schemes. NDA’s mission is to prioritise every backward class… We developed the backward villages in Bihar that were neglected and now they are the first villages of the country,” the PM added.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also addressed the gathering, recalling the transformation since the NDA government came to power in 2005. He emphasised progress in roads, healthcare, education, electricity, and future goals like providing jobs to 1 crore youths over the next five years.

He noted recent announcements, including the Makhana Board, Motihari Airport inauguration, and Western Kosi River support as part of the 2025 Budget, while also highlighting free electricity schemes for families across Bihar.
