The Election Commission on Thursday extended timeline for SIR in six states and Union territories, news agency PTI reported. The ECI announced revised timelines for the SIR of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, according to an official press release.

Revised SIR schedule

  • Tamil Nadu: Enumeration revised to 14.12.2025 (Sunday); publication on 19.12.2025 (Friday)
  • Gujarat: Enumeration revised to 14.12.2025 (Sunday); publication on 19.12.2025 (Friday)
  • Madhya Pradesh: Enumeration revised to 18.12.2025; publication on 23.12.2025 (Tuesday)
  • Chhattisgarh: Enumeration revised to 18.12.2025 (Thursday); publication on 23.12.2025 (Tuesday)
  • Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Enumeration revised to 18.12.2025 (Thursday); publication on 23.12.2025 (Tuesday)
  • Uttar Pradesh: Enumeration revised to 26.12.2025 (Friday); publication on 31.12.2025 (Wednesday)

No extension for West Bengal, Rajasthan

According to the update shared by the Election Commission, the enumeration period for Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan and West Bengal will end today. The draft rolls will be published on December 16 for these states. Meanwhile an earlier notification had indicated that the enumeration period would end of December 18 for Kerala. The southern state will see draft rolls being published on December 23. The final electoral roll will now be published on February 21 next year.
