The Delhi Police was seen arriving outside the residence of AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj on Tuesday night — hours after the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids. The probe agency had carried out searches at 13 locations, including the residence of former Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, in connection with an alleged money laundering case. The raids, conducted in Delhi and nearby areas, form part of an investigation into suspected irregularities in the sanction and execution of hospital construction projects during the Aam Aadmi Party government’s tenure.
Officials said the agency has not yet disclosed details of assets seized or the specific financial discrepancies uncovered.
What AAP said?
In reaction to the raids, AAP said the ED raids against Bharadwaj is a diversionary tactic of the ruling BJP government. The case against him false, dates back to time when he wasn’t even minister, adds AAP.
Bhardwaj, a three-time MLA from Greater Kailash, has previously served as Delhi’s Health, Urban Development and Water Minister. He also chaired the Delhi Jal Board and is a prominent spokesperson of AAP.
AAP Leader Manish Sisodia said, “Just yesterday, the entire nation was discussing the Prime Minister’s graduation degree. Now, in an attempt to divert attention from that issue, the BJP is resorting to its usual tactic, ordering ED and CBI raids. The raid on Saurabh Bharadwaj’s residence is nothing but a distraction. The case being referred to dates back to a time when he wasn’t even a minister. This raid is clearly politically motivated. Such false cases will not hold up in court.”

What do we know about the case?
The case stems from a complaint filed in August 2024 by then Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, who alleged corruption in the sanctioning of 24 hospital projects worth Rs 5,590 crore during 2018–19. These included plans for 11 new hospitals and upgrades to 13 existing facilities.
According to the ED, the projects were plagued by delays, cost escalations, and possible embezzlement of funds. None of the hospitals were completed on schedule, while several hundred crores in additional expenses remain unexplained.
One of the most ambitious schemes, the Rs 1,125 crore ICU Hospital Project, aimed to create 6,800 beds across seven pre-engineered facilities. However, despite significant expenditure, the project is reportedly only half complete.
This is a breaking story. More Information will be added soon…
