DUSU election results: A student of Delhi University‘s Department of Library Science, a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree holder from DU’s Hansraj College, Aryan Maan of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) is now the new president of the country’s largest student body. He defeated National Students’ Union of India’s (NSUI) Joslyn Nandita Choudhary with a huge margin of 16,196 votes.
The ABVP won three of the four posts – president, secretary and joint secretary while NSUI won only the vice president post.
Following his victory, Maan said thanked the students of Delhi University. “At the same time, I also want to highlight that this time Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won 3 out of 4 posts. Deepika has secured the Joint Secretary position as well. I want to assure you all that this year’s DUSU team from ABVP will work with full dedication,” he added.
Who is Aryan Maan, the giant crusader of ABVP?
Aryan Maan is from Haryana’s Bahadurgarh and a student in the Delhi University‘s Department of Library Science. His campaign this year focused on the issues of students including subsidised metro passes, free Wi-Fi across the campus, accessibility audits, and better sports facilities, among others.
He is a national-level football player and a state executive member of the ABVP. Reports said he has been actively involved in ABVP-led student movements, including strikes against fee hikes and seeking better infrastructure at the campuses.

His ballot number was 3 in the elections and celebrities like Sanjay Dutt and Randeep Hooda even campaigned for him. While campaigning, Mann had told PTI, “The ABVP’s capable leadership has always been trusted by students of Delhi University. This year, we are determined to ensure adequate sports facilities and nutrition, campus accessibility audits for students with special needs, and free Wi-Fi access across DU.”
“With these initiatives, we aim to establish Delhi University as a premier global institution,” he added.
DUSU elections 2025 results
NSUI candidate Rahul Jhansla (29,339 votes) beat ABVP’s Govind Tanwar (20,547 votes) to win the vice president’s post.
Whereas Kunal Chaudhary of the ABVP received 23,779 votes to bag the secretary’s post by defeating NSUI’s Kabir. ABVP’s Deepika Jha defeated Lavkush Bhadana to win the joint secretary’s post in the core DUSU panel.
In a post on X, NSUI national president Varun Choudhary said the party “fought well in this odd election — not just against the ABVP, but against the combined force of the DU admin, Delhi govt, central govt, RSS-BJP & Delhi Police”.
“Yet thousands of DU students stood firmly with us and our candidates fought well. Best wishes to Rahul Jhansla, newly elected DUSU vice president from NSUI panel, and to all other office bearers who won. Win or loss, NSUI will always fight for common students, their issues & to save DU. We will only grow stronger,” he added.
In the 2024 DUSU polls, the NSUI had won the president’s post after a break of seven years, along with the joint secretary’s post. The ABVP had secured the vice president’s post and retained the secretary’s position.
