A Swiggy Instamart delivery agent was caught on video stealing a pair of shoes from outside a flat in Gurugram, prompting a response from the grocery delivery platform. The incident, which occurred on April 9, was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Rohit Arora, who claimed the shoes belonged to his friend.
In the viral clip, the delivery executive is seen taking the black-coloured shoes, purportedly from Nike, which were left outside the flat.
Arora alleged that despite reaching out to Swiggy about the incident, the company did not provide the contact details of the delivery partner.
“Swiggy’s drop and PICK up service. A delivery boy just took my friend’s shoes (@Nike) and they won’t even share his contact,” Arora wrote in the caption of his post.
The video depicts the Swiggy delivery agent climbing the stairs, ringing the doorbell, and delivering the package to the flat. Afterwards, he appears to check for any witnesses, removes his headscarf, and descends the stairs.
Moments later, he returns, retrieves the shoes, conceals them in cloth, and leaves.
Since its posting, the video has garnered over 7,99,000 views and has over 3,000 likes and 300 comments.
Swiggy, meanwhile, replied, “We expect better from our delivery partners. Do meet us on DM, so we can assist you better.” However, Arora claimed in a follow-up tweet that the company informed him they couldn’t track their rider.
He wrote, “Swiggy support called and just said they can’t track their rider. We need to contact their legal team or file a police complaint.
At this point it’s not about shoes it’s about safety. The rider was let into the house for delivering goods. Now we all have to think about doing it.”
While some users commented sharing similar experiences, some took it in a light note.
One user commented, “Took my brand new helmet. Submitted the video proof, they asked me to file a complaint with police. I wanted the address which they never shared. I just don’t understand why can’t they remove the delivery partner and penalize when there is a clear evidence of such act (sic).”
Another user said, “I thought he was going to take white ones (laughing emoticon).”
