Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lauded the BJP’s sweeping victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, emphasising that the people of the national capital have given a decisive verdict against “false promises” and governance failures of the past decade.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shah congratulated BJP workers for their relentless efforts in securing a comeback after 27 years. He credited the victory to the party’s commitment to addressing Delhi’s pressing issues, including poor infrastructure, polluted water, overflowing sewers, and the deteriorating condition of the Yamuna River.
“Delhiites have shown that the public cannot be misled by repeated false promises. The public has responded to the dirty Yamuna, broken roads, and liquor shops on every street with their votes,” Shah wrote, taking a direct dig at the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to BJP’s Delhi unit, including National President JP Nadda and State President Virendra Sachdeva, for their leadership and hard work in securing the party’s return to power.
Shah further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi would now transform into an “ideal capital”, promising better respect for women, empowerment of unauthorised colony residents, and new avenues for self-employment.
With the results marking the end of AAP’s decade-long rule, the BJP’s landslide victory has triggered widespread discussions about the changing political landscape of Delhi. While the final seat tally is yet to be confirmed, early trends show a strong mandate for the saffron party, signalling a new era in the governance of the national capital.
