Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: The Delhi Police have filed an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Amanatullah Khan for breaching the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). This action was prompted by the circulation of a video in which Khan was allegedly seen campaigning in his constituency (Okhla) alongside his supporters after the official campaigning period had ended.

The South East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) shared an update on social media, stating, “In this matter, FIR No. 95/25 under sections 223/3/5 BNS & 126 RP Act has been registered against Amanatullah Khan at the Jamia Nagar Police Station for violating the MCC.”

Meanwhile, the polling for the 70 Delhi Assembly seats began on Wednesday morning, with voters heading to the polls amid tight security. Voting began at 7:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM, according to officials.

Earlier, on Tuesday, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Delhi Police of supporting the BJP and encouraging hooliganism against his party. He claimed their actions were designed to protect BJP’s interests and disrupt the election process. This came after the Delhi Police filed a case against AAP candidate Atishi for violating the Model Code of Conduct.

In another incident, the DCP South East Delhi reported that AAP candidate Atishi, along with 50-70 people and 10 vehicles, was found violating the MCC at Fateh Singh Marg on February 4 at 12:30 AM. Despite police instructions to disperse, a case was registered under sections 223 BNS & 126 RP Act at the Govindpuri Police Station.

The DCP also posted on social media about an altercation involving AAP members Ashmit and Sagar Mehta, who reportedly obstructed and assaulted a head constable on duty. The incident occurred at Baba Fateh Singh Marg, Govindpuri, when the constable, Kaushal Pal, began filming the gathering. The assault led to the filing of FIR No. 106/25 under sections 221/132/121(1)/3(5) BNS, related to obstruction and assault during public duty, with further investigations underway.
